Aluminum Artificial Aging Industrial Ovens
LEWCO has once again proven to be an heat-treat industry leader with their latest Aluminum artificial aging ovens, provided for a top tier automotive manufacturer. Packed with state-of-the-art features, these ovens solved a multitude problems: hot and uniform air in a large chamber, a quick process flow-friendly design, all delivered in a tight footprint that allowed for the rest of the customer’s process to fit in the available plant space.
The customer required quite a bit of capacity in this oven, around 2,000 lbs. of steel fixture and aluminum sheets were to be heated to 400° F in a matter of about 60 minutes. LEWCO was able to provide ovens that deliver hot, uniform, horizontal air to the product. With a large air supply of 60,000 CFM to this 144” wide by 144” deep by 96” tall chamber, LEWCO was able to deliver an astounding 52 air changes per minute to this oven. This uniform air, coupled with the horizontal delivery to aid in the air passing between the customer’s stacks of aluminum sheets for better heating, the solution LEWCO delivered far surpassed the competition’s offerings.
Other constraints for these ovens were the need for a smooth and fast loading and unloading operation, as this manufacturer has a very high-production operation. LEWCO’s ovens feature fabric roll-up doors on each end, making for a fast, pass through process flow. Operators simply open the doors, which open in a fraction of the time of traditional swing doors, and roll the heated carts out one end, and load the next carts into the chamber. Keeping the process in-line and speedy was paramount to the client.
LEWCO was also working in a limited space, while providing this solution. With their top tier engineering team, they were able to fit all of these features, in a space where many of the competitors couldn’t, without sufficing on airflow in the oven, features, and overall solution quality.
