LEWCO Completes Custom Batch Oven for Recycling Industry
SANDUSKY, OH – LEWCO, Inc. recently completed construction of a custom industrial oven for an engineering firm working in the recycling industry. The oven will be used on a government funded project to develop processes for producing plastic sheet goods from recycled plastic waste in an effort to reduce the amount of plastic in landfills.
The specific use of the oven is preheating large steel molds at a maximum temperature of 650°F. The oven features a vertical lift guillotine style door that can be operated remotely by a lift truck operator as well as a 10,000 lb. capacity pneumatic load car. The oven control sequence automatically indexes the load car when the door reaches its upper limit. Floor space and height restrictions required customization of LEWCO standard designs to meet the customer’s functional requirements.
According to Senior Applications Engineer, Lou Schaefer; “This project was another perfect example of LEWCO’s process heating and material handling expertise working together to develop a solution for a customer’s unique application.”
