Industrial Manufacturing Company Installs LEWCO Curing Oven
LEWCO, Inc. recently delivered a Custom Enhanced Duty Batch Oven to an industrial manufacturing company serving a wide variety of industries. The oven has a maximum operating temperature of 800°F and features a top mounted heater-box with a 1,000,000 BTU direct-fired natural gas burner. A 17,000 CFM circulation fan delivers “dual” airflow evenly throughout the workspace.
LEWCO designed two custom self-propelled load cars to carry a customer supplied custom drum in and out of the oven. In addition to loading and unloading the drums, the cars will continuously roll the drums 360 degrees, or oscillate 180 degrees in both directions. The oven is equipped with pneumatically operated vertical lift doors on each end. This allows the customer to index the cars from both ends without any cool down cycle, greatly increasing their production capabilities. The process requires even heating of the product and LEWCO’s standard Enhanced Duty Batch Ovens guarantee temperature uniformity of +/-10°F. throughout the qualified zone.
Oven controls include a Eurotherm Nanodac temperature controller/ electronic data logger and redundant high-limit controller. A PLC interfaced with a touchscreen Human Machine Interface (HMI) enables the operator to control all oven operations safely and easily from one convenient interface. Control functions include create, edit, and save multiple ramp/ soak recipes, control oven and load car operations, check oven status, and monitor, record, and retrieve process data.
