350°F. LEWCO Oven used for Heating Wheel Resonators
LEWCO, Inc. recently delivered a small walk-in oven to a Tier 2 Automotive Manufacturer of rubber and plastic air induction system parts, as well as other under-hood components. The oven is electrically heated and has a maximum operating temperature of 350°F. It will be used to heat wheel resonators, which are used to reduce tire cavity noise.
The oven, which features a workspace of 60”W x 60”D x 60”H, was manufactured and designed to NFPA 86 “Class B” standards. The oven has a top mounted heater-box with 36kW heat input and a 1,700 CFM high-efficiency circulation fan delivering dual airflow to the workspace.
Oven controls include a Eurotherm Nanodac temperature controller/recorder, along with a Eurotherm Mini 8 Loop Controller. All recorded process data is stored in an un-editable format, which was required to meet AMS2750 pyrometry standards. A 10” Pro-Face touchscreen HMI was also included to allow the customer to easily control all oven operations from one convenient interface. Control functions include the ability to create, edit, and save multiple ramp/soak recipes, control oven operations, check oven status, and also monitor, record, and retrieve process data. A redundant high-limit controller and emergency stop were provided for safety.
