Preheating Automotive Heads with 1000°F Oven
LEWCO, Inc. recently manufactured a custom 1000°F fuel-fired batch oven to a company that remanufactures products in the automotive industry. The oven will be used to pre-heat automotive heads to 850°F prior to welding. The heads will be loaded into the oven on shelves supplied by the customer. LEWCO Engineers decided horizontal airflow would be best suited for the application.
This is a cabinet style oven with a rear mounted heater box and a vertical lift door. LEWCO’s standard batch oven controls were upgraded to include a Eurotherm Nanodac ramp/soak controller with 4 channel data acquisition. The ramp/soak controller allows the customer to create and use various recipes. In a given recipe, users can set their desired temperature, how long the oven stays at that temperature, and how fast that temperature is achieved.
